There's no life without coffee! Or even though we live tiny, mobile and remote we still have the essentials.

The day is not really started without a decent coffee. Instant will just not do!

When we first started this lifestyle we had a plunger and a stove top espresso pot. The coffee was ok and if I am off teaching in remote schools the plunger and a can of ground coffee goes with me.

Australian Byron Bay Coffee beans and my plunger ready to go travelling with me
After dismantling the house kitchen and transferring a very cut down version to the caravan our bench top electric espresso machine came with us. It lived under a bench if we didn't have 240v power and came out to sit in the annex if we could plug into power.

So here's the problem. If you are fussy about your coffee, and we are, coffee beans only keep so long. Then the beans have to be ground so we have to pack a grinder. And what happens if the local small shop only has the cheap stuff?  Disaster!

So one wedding anniversary while visiting Canberra with the NSW family we bought ourselves a wonderful present of a coffee pod machine. Placed on a grip mat it travels in the corner of the kitchen and never moves. And best of all it runs on battery power via the inverter. Now we have great coffee in airtight pods and postal delivery of same  to home, wherever that might be at the time

It never moves even on rough roads.
